Description

Once part of a larger figural fountain group, the divine hero shown naked,
reclining on his left side, left leg bent in front, left arm propping up his body
on his lion skin and a wine skin above, his hand steading the fountain spout.

1st – 2nd Century AD

Length:  81 cm

Provenance:  Said to have been found on a Greek island.  Yanakopoulos collection,
Paris 1913.  With Joseph Brummer, New York, 1926.  Albright-Knox Art Gallery,
Buffalo, New York, gifted in 1926 by Mrs Seymour H. Knox.
