First edition of this superb Chine-collé lithograph on India paper of Solomon Island
natives, by Louis de Sainson the artist aboard the famous Dumont D’Urville voyage
of scientific discovery and exploration.  The French explorer Jean-François de La
Pérouse who then vanished.

Tikopia is a volcanic island in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.   It forms a part of
the Melanesian nation state of the Solomon Islands  but is culturally Polynesian.
